Hi, I’m Melanie Perez D’Eramo, my candidate number is 0492 and my Centre number is US163. My group consisted of Megan Miqueli, Camila Napuri and Osato Onaghinor. My group perspective is â€Å"Should measures be taken to decrease the rate at which endangered species become extinct?†; more specifically my perspective was that it cost billions of dollars to save all endangered species. Does saving and protecting endangered animals outweigh its costs? Now I m going to walk you through my table of content. In the table of content my perspective is included which I already mention involving â€Å"biodiversity†, I m going to talk about local, national, and international examples of endangered animals, the counter argument to my perspective, the solutions and my personal opinion. So, what is an endangered specie? An endangered specie is an animal or plant that is seriously at risk of becoming extinct. You can see here are some examples. Locally we have the â€Å" Florida Panther†, which threats to the â€Å"Florida Panther’s survival are the loss and degradation of their habitat. Personal Statement Diagnosed with a Disease Essay Martin Luther King Jr. once said, The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and adversity. The British ex-prime minister Winston Churchill also had a motto that is Never, never, never, never give up. Life looks like a cranky mountain road with thorns. I had no road of flower leads to the top of mountain. I only can keep walking and go on. I thought no matter what I faced and experienced, each step under my feet is precious because those are parts of my life. It was a clear sunny day and as usual, I was headed home after my hours of studying. I felt like needles were pricking my lungs with each step. I couldnt move because I couldnt breathe at all. I could barely find my way up for air. At that moment, what I want was just a little bit of oxygen. I tried to stay calm and used every strength of my body to get home. As soon as I got home, my parents took me to the hospital. Then, the result scared me. I was diagnosed with a disease called pneumothorax that required an operation for my weak lungs. I had no choice; what I could do only was mustering my courage to face the challenges. So I began to enjoy my long and unknown hospital life. In order to help me breathe, a respiratory tube was inserted into my l lungs. I was happy to breathe well again even though it was still painful. However, it was only the beginning because the operation was approaching. After few days, I was told that I had to be put to sleep for the operation. I was nervous about being put to sleep. I had a fear of not being able to wake up. Fortunately, after 2 hours of sleeping with a successful operation, I opened my eyes slowly and I was able to recognize my parents and my surroundings. They came around and talked about me. I was also happy that the hard and dangerous part was over, but I was wrong. I wasnt allowed to sleep and drink water for the next 12 hours to prevent me from being infected with virus. It was the worst news because I was tired and thirsty and I should bore the sharp pain in the wound with great courage. However, I kept telling myself to stay alert and overcome my challenge. I knew I should be patient and brave; I should be persistent in fighting the problem. Finally, I did it! I could breathe fresh air again. I still remember someone said sunshine is always after the rain! Thats absolutely true. Lying on the hospital bed helped me realize that life is precious and valuable. Not a minute should be wasted. I should work steadily and make solid progresses as every step leaves its print instead of having aleatory mentality. I also have learned the power of persistence which promotes me to going forward. I will take this lesson and apply it in college. I want to cherish every minute of my life and overcome challenges with persistence. I am going to study hard and pursue a successful career.
